Eight Greener Business Practices 2023

As the demand for eco-friendly products and services, as well as consumers’ interest in safeguarding the environment, increases, an increasing number of businesses are seeking to reduce their carbon footprints and employ more environmentally friendly business practices. However, many businesses may not know where to begin, and if not conducted properly, certain efforts may appear insincere.

In order to assist, eight members of the Young Entrepreneur Council suggest several ways businesses can begin turning green and discuss the impact this can have on their overall success.

Begin to Think Cyclically

Regarding their own production processes, businesses may adopt a cyclical rather than a linear mindset. A manufacturing company can examine the refuse generated during production and consider methods to minimize or repurpose it.

If done effectively, the company can save money while increasing productivity. As long as efforts are genuine and consistent, a company pursuing sustainable goals will create strong connections with employees, customers, and the adjacent community, given the increased consumer awareness of sustainability and its significance for the future of our planet. – Charles Bogoian, Kenai Sports

Go Completely Digital

Even in the digital age, if we start paying attention, we will notice that businesses still print a great deal. However, that is not required.

Going fully digital is a win-win solution for both the environment and the business, as fully digital processes contribute to better organization, more transparency, faster transactions, and better work, while also contributing to the reduction of a highly consumed product for which a significant amount of natural resources are extracted annually. Even if you use recyclable paper, your impact will be greater if you go completely digital. — Riccardo Conte, Virtus Flow

Determine A Greener Primary Offering

Identify ways to go green within your operations, as every business is distinct. For instance, in the industry of garbage removal, we are able to donate and recycle items rather than dumping them. Additionally, we can go paperless and have everything signed in an application.

If your business model involves transportation (e.g., pizza delivery), you should consider investing in electric vehicles. If you are selling physical goods, use recycled packaging. If you are a real estate agent, give your clients a plant for their new home so that you can plant a tree for every home sold. Find the sole offering of your company and make it green. Not only is it beneficial for the environment, but there are also marketing advantages! – Nick Friedman, College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving

Involve Your Supply Chain Partners

Companies must be willing to invest in new technologies and processes and collaborate closely with their supply chain partners to make sustainability a shared priority. You should evaluate your supply chain partners thoroughly and choose those who prioritize sustainability in their operations, such as by using renewable energy, minimizing waste, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
