As part of the third round of reductions announced earlier this year by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, the company has begun laying off additional employees. This time, the corporation is laying off employees from the cloud computing and human resources departments. Previous layoffs at Amazon affected the advertising, retail, devices, recruiting, and human resources departments.
Amazon is laying off 9,000 workers.
Jassy announced last month that Amazon would lay off an additional 9,000 employees, in addition to the 18,000 layoffs announced in November of last year.
Adam Selipsky, the chief executive officer of Amazon Web Services, and Beth Galetti, the director of human resources, sent memos to employees in the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica regarding the most recent reduction in force.

CNBC reported, citing a current employee, that some AWS teams were included in the previous round of layoffs, and that a portion of the latest round of layoffs is anticipated to affect AWS’ professional services division. This division assists customers with cloud infrastructure troubleshooting.
